This is a page of Easter clipart. Easter eggs are the traditional way to celebrate Easter. Giving painted eggs goes far back in Christian culture, to Mesopotamia. In ancient times, the Mesopotamians would give eggs colored red in order to signify the blood of Christ. This was a direct reference to the Crucifixion. Naturally, they used real chicken eggs, but today it is more customary to celebrate using candy eggs.
The eggs can be hard-boiled and then colored using dyes that are edible. The Easter Bunny came along later and is a popular figure for children during Easter. It was traditional to have an egg roll on Easter, and that custom remains in certain areas.
Easter eggs have different meanings in different places. In Russia, for instance, the Imperial family requisitioned bejewelled eggs that are now treasured and, indeed, priceless from the House of Fabergé. In Poland, the eggs are considered a symbol of new life, and the eggs are colored with extremely complex colorings called pisanka.
Easter remains a highly popular holiday. Even if you don't celebrate its religious significance, it is a good harbinger of the advent of Spring, as it always occurs during the change of seasons. Many businesses also give their employees a few days off in honor of Easter, which everyone can appreciate.
