'One Hundred and One Dalmatians' aka '101 Dalmatians' is a beloved Walt Disney animated feature film. It premiered in 1961 and is based on a 1956 novel by Dodie Smith.
The main characters are Pongo, voiced in the film by Rod Taylor, and Cruella de Vil, voiced by Betty Lou Gerson. The plot is that Pongo, owned by writer Roger Radcliffe, has some puppies with Perdita, and Cruella kidnaps them. Naturally, the dogs wish to get them back.
This was a big hit for the Walt Disney Animation Studio, technically Walt Disney Productions, because it basically rescued the studio. The previous animated feature film, 'Sleeping Beauty,' was an artistic masterpiece and a financial failure. Of course, since then, 'Sleeping Beauty' has become one of the most beloved films in the Disney studios and the favorite of all of them for many Disney fans, but audiences stayed away in droves.
Thus, Walt Disney was going to close down the animation studio, but he was grateful for all that they had done to create his entertainment empire (television show, theme parks, merchandising, reissues of his classic animated feature films and shorts). The studio developed a new animation process that drastically cut costs, and the film was a hit with audiences.
But you don't have to be a fan of the film itself to like this clipart. Isn't it adorable?
